Smelling Flowers

If you or your child suffer from nasal allergy symptoms, such as nasal congestion, itching, sneezing, runny nose, clogged ears, or sinus infections, you probably know that allergies may be the cause. But, many patients do not realize that most recurrent sinus infections and headaches also have an allergic trigger.

Did you know that there is a way to actually change your body's reaction to your allergies to reduce all of these symptoms?

Immunotherapy for Allergies

Immunotherapy is a treatment in which we introduce what you are allergic to into your body so that your body actually changes its reaction. This may be through subcutaneous immunotherapy in the office (allergy shots) or sublingual immunotherapy at home (allergy drops or tablets placed underneath your tongue). Most patients are able to come off of medications after undergoing immunotherapy, or at least feel much better on the medications. For children, immunotherapy can even prevent asthma from developing, saving them from the burden of having a chronic condition. The best part is the results are long-lasting, even after immunotherapy has been completed.
